What this is
Skylight Lite is a private, self-hosted family calendar and chore board running on a wall-mounted tablet in a single household. It is not a commercial product, it is not offered to the public, and it has no users beyond the members of that one family.
What it accesses
When a household member connects their Google account, this app requests:
- Email address and basic profile, used only to confirm that the person signing in is on the household's own administrator list.
- Google Calendar events, read and write, so the wall display can show the family's schedule and so events can be added or edited from the tablet.
It does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Photos, or any other Google service.
What it stores, and where
All data lives in a private database controlled by the household, hosted on Turso, and in the application running on Vercel. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
- Google refresh tokens are encrypted at rest and never leave the server.
- Calendar events are cached only so the display can render without calling Google on every screen refresh. The cache is a rolling window of roughly the past week and the next four months, and anything outside it is deleted automatically.
- Chores, routines, stars, rewards, lists and meal plans are created by the family within this app and never come from Google.
What it does not do
- No data is sold, rented, or shared with any third party.
- No advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
- No Google user data is used to train machine learning or AI models.
- No one outside the household has access, and the application is not multi-tenant.
Limited Use
This application's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access
Any household member can disconnect this app at any time from Google Account permissions. Revoking access immediately stops all calendar syncing. Cached calendar data for that account can be deleted on request, and is in any case discarded as the rolling cache window moves past it.
Children
Children in the household use the wall tablet only. They have no accounts, no passwords, and no Google sign-in through this app. Their information here consists of a first name, a color and an emoji chosen by their parents.
